Rules of the Sea

At Salt Safari, your safety, enjoyment, and respect for the ocean are our top priorities. By booking and boarding our vessel, you agree to the following terms and conditions:

1. Safety at Sea

All guests must follow the instructions of the skipper and crew at all times.

  • Life jackets and safety equipment are provided and must be worn when required.

  • Alcohol consumption is permitted in moderation, but no excessive drinking or disorderly conduct will be tolerated.

  • Trips are subject to weather and sea conditions. For your safety, the skipper has the sole discretion to delay, cut short, or cancel a trip.

  • In the event of cancellation due to bad weather, we will reschedule your charter or issue a refund.

3. Liability & Risk

  • Deep sea fishing and ocean travel carry inherent risks. By booking a charter, you acknowledge these risks and agree that Salt Safari, its crew, and its affiliates are not liable for any injury, loss, or damage unless caused by proven negligence.

  • Passengers must disclose any medical conditions or mobility concerns prior to departure.

  • A deposit is required to secure your booking, with the balance due before departure.

  • Cancellations made at least 7 days prior to the trip will be refunded (less admin fees). Cancellations within 7 days are non-refundable.

5. Catch & Conservation

  • All fishing is done in accordance with South African marine regulations.

  • Protected species must be released immediately. Bag limits, sizes, and quotas will be strictly observed.

  • Guests are welcome to keep legal catches, but cleaning and packaging are at the crew’s discretion.

6. Onboard Conduct

  • Capacity:

    • Carrycat 900 – Although certified to carry 12 people, we limit trips to a maximum of 5 anglers for comfort and safety.

    • Carrycat 760 – Although certified to carry 8 people, we limit trips to a maximum of 4 anglers for comfort and safety.

  • Children under 12 years of age must be accompanied by an adult at all times.

  • Smoking is only permitted in designated areas and strictly prohibited near fuel or onboard equipment.

7. Equipment & Damage

  • All fishing gear, tackle, and bait are provided.

  • Any deliberate damage or loss of equipment may result in replacement charges.
